January 2022

WorkLink Create Authoring: Object property values, as well as additional behaviors, have been improved with this version; these changes will significantly enhance the user experience.: New WorkLink Create: Changed Default Values.

WorkLink App: Functionality now exists to add a Remote Assistance Expert from within an opened Work Instructions scenario. Please find full details in this article: Initiate a Remote Assistance Call from within an active Scenario.

WorkLink App: Object Tracking is now supported on Android devices (previously available on iOS and HoloLens devices). Visit this article to learn how to set up your project for object tracking.

November – December 2021

New alignment user interface for HoloLens: Bringing the all-new alignment interface(previously released on iOS and Android) to the HoloLens platform. This new interface makes it exceptionally easy for the user to choose an alignment method with visual feedback, learn more about the alignment user interface here.

Visual Indicator for cached projects: A visual indicator has been added to inform the user about cached projects. It lets users know if a project is cached on their device and if /when they can use the project locally.

Improved Rendering of the model tracking model: The model tracking “line model” now has better visibility and makes the model tracking convenient for the user, learn more about the model tracking here.

Download progress indicator for Work Instructions projects: WorkLink now shows download progress percentage for Work Instructions projects. This comes in handy while opening big Work Instructions Projects.

October 2021

New User Interface for Model Alignment – With this version, the alignment experience has been completely redesigned. This redesign offers greater simplicity and makes it much easier for users to control the alignment process and additional feedback from the app on alignment success. There are three placement modes:
  • NEW! Object Placement Mode – Allows the user to align directly on a specific object. To use this mode, object tracking should be set up in WorkLink Create. WorkLink Users can learn more about Object Tracking here.
  • Image Placement Mode – Allows the user to align on a defined target image.
  • Surface Placement Mode – Allows the user to align on a surface, with or without any target image. The user can tap the device screen to place the object once alignment is successful.
Note: This new alignment experience is only available on Android and iOS platforms. It is coming soon for other platforms. Learn more about this interface here.

The WorkLink app version (2.10.2) focused on bug fixes and an improved user experience.

Please note that this is not a mandatory release; However, we encourage all users to upgrade to the latest version.

January 2021

Version 2.10.0 added quite a few new features!

Please note that this is a mandatory release; All users must update to the latest version of the app to continue using WorkLink.

New features and improvements in this release:

  • Remote Assistance video improvements for Windows and
  • HoloLens users
  • Scenario list load stability improvements
  • Usability improvements for Interactive mode.
  • User interface improvements for when a user finishes a work instructions scenario.
  • New User Management page (Beta).

December 2020

This month we focused on improving the robustness of the contact list and overall stability. Both remote assistance and work instructions users will be able to benefit from this release.

Some notable changes:

  • Improvements to the user-availability status for remote assistance calls.
  • Improvements to 3D model rendering on work instructions.
  • Stability improvements on the iOS platform.

  • WebRTC Video, an exceptional technology for high quality video streaming, joins our earlier release of WebRTC audio technology for use in WorkLink apps. Together they provide unparalleled call quality with minimal latency, while adhering to the world’s most sophisticated security standards.
  • Customers on Windows platforms can now perform 2D annotations when 3D tracking is difficult or not possible.

Users can now use Work Instructions which are stored locally on the device (Offline Published Work Instructions and loaded on a device) without any network or connection to Scope AR CMS. Learn more about Local Work Instructions (beta).

Note: Please note that Remote Assistance calls are not available in this mode.

How to use Local Work Instructions: 

  1. Offline Publishing – Once WorkLink Create Author has created Work instructions, Author can use “Offline Publish” from WorkLink Create drop-down menu to create .scope files (to be loaded on the device).

  • Guest Invite with a web-based PIN (preview):  Remote Assistance Users can now invite Guest users with a PIN created in the app.

- New contact list functionality that eliminates the need to find the right device to call. Simply select your contact, and we’ll handle the rest for you.
- Precision Mode (formerly known as our Freeze feature) enables you to pause the video momentarily for precise annotation creation.
- Tapping the “Add View” button will save your current workspace with annotations intact. Saved Views no longer appear on top of your video feed. Instead, Saved Views are accessible in our new Screen Switcher. To access and edit them, tap the Screen Switcher icon.
- A new app tour will guide you through our new UI upon the first launch.

This control enables the user to turn off our dynamic autoscaling by selecting one of three possible preset bitrates and video resolutions. This new toggle can be found by clicking on the gear icon in the top menu bar. Please note that autoscaling is still the preferred setting to achieve the optimal call quality.
  • Significant optimizations to dynamic autoscaling of bandwidth utilization and optimal video resolution, over a variety of network conditions
