Scope AR Brings Augmented Reality to the Living Room at CES

Using Epson’s new Moverio BT-200 glasses, Scope AR is showcasing how their new augmented reality based “ScopeAssist” system can be used by consumers in their everyday lives.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW, January 6-10, 2014 – Scope AR is bringing their industrial augmented reality training straight to the living room at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, giving consumers step-by-step instructions through visual and voice overlay on wearable technology to set up and wire a 5.1 surround system. Their new ScopeAssist system allows users to download and run in-view assistance to vastly simplify unfamiliar tasks, from industrial grade training to everyday household maintenance. Using Epson’s new Moverio BT-200 glasses and an Onkyo surround system as hardware examples at the show, consumers can wear the glasses and activate ScopeAssist, which allows them to see clear, animated instructions and work through the installation hands-free. The system also provides immediate, friendly and voice-driven guidance to properly set up the stereo, from proper speaker positioning to comprehensive wiring.

 

Eric Mizufuka, Product Manager for Epson’s Moverio glasses initiative, is incredibly excited by the ScopeAssist system running on the new BT-200 glasses: “This system really highlights the full capabilities of the BT-200, using the new integrated camera, clear voice instructions through the earphones and voice recognition capabilities. Scope AR focuses primarily on large-scale machinery training, boasting an already impressive roster of clients in the heavy industry, aerospace and medical sectors, but saw an opportunity to expand into everyday life tasks such as home electronics set up, home maintenance and automotive repair. ScopeAssist is being designed to work seamlessly on a multitude of handheld and wearable devices and is highly customizable for almost any use.
